ASC Basel celebrates 100 years!

Around 60 people gathered on 29 May in brilliant sunshine at the Schlosshof in Pfeffingen, one of the finest venues in the region for a nice country celebration. The staff did us proud: a lovely apero in the courtyard under the magnificent lime tree, followed by a salad and grill buffet for lunch, and a delicious dessert buffet at teatime. And there was never a dull moment: the “Chörli” from Muttenz sang songs at apero time, Arny gave an inspired speech looking back over the history of the club, Eric showed photos from yesteryear up to the present (no prizes for guessing who was who), the line-dancers gave of their best, we heard speeches from the honorary British Consul Allan Chalmers and FASC President Bob Howis, and in between times we could – and did – dance to the music of the band. We were also very pleased to welcome Sabine Scherrer from the Bider & Tanner book shop, who sponsor ASC Basel, and Sylvia & Rudi Jakob from EC Biel. The whole event was magnificently orchestrated by Claude and Flicky (president and secretary) with lots of support from the organization team – many thanks to them all.
