FASC in Interlaken: dancing the night away
The Swiss-Germans have a word for it: “Klein aber fein” – small but beautiful, which just about perfectly describes FASC’s annual weekend this year in Interlaken. Although we were a comparatively small group and the weather wasn’t ideal, we enjoyed ourselves hugely with chocolate-making at a local confiserie, table-tennis and less serious games, a horse-drawn carriage ride or walk round town, or just socializing. The highlight was Saturday night’s dinner/dance. The well-known Duo Stingray was already playing when we came into the Panorama room, one daring couple started dancing right away – before dinner! - and by the end of the evening virtually everybody was on the floor. And kept dancing to Stingray’s glorious medley of golden oldies till way past midnight.
The Hotel Interlaken did us proud with their superb hospitality and wonderful food, and their beautiful Rokoko room was available just for us whenever we needed it, including breakfast. Altogether this was an exceptionally successful weekend among good friends, old and new, with a wonderful atmosphere. Many thanks to Vicky for her excellent organization, the clubs for their mouth-watering contributions to the raffle (baskets of local produce), Robin for her post-dinner quiz on Friday, and Claude for organizing our light-hearted sports. Congratulations too to all the winners: for the full list, see the FASC website.
